What should you expect?

A typical Rolfing session lasts about sixty minutes to an hour and fifteen minutes. Each session begins with an assessment of the client and what they may need in a given session to maximize the effect and integration of the Rolfing work. During the session a number of areas will receive work and movement re-patterning to help “take it with you” when the series is completed. Barring major accidents and trauma a client can expect to experience the benefits of the work for a lifetime.

Once the ten series is completed, a client may elect to continue the work with a post ten Rolfing series or advanced work. Having post ten or advanced work the client can experience a greater level of body integration and awareness. It is also recommended that a client return once a year for a “tune up”. This helps maintain the level of integration achieved in the ten series. For clients who have had a ten series I also do acute work for recent injuries and chronic stress relief.

Rolfing has a reputation for being excessively painful. Those days are a thing of the past. Today’s Structural Integration practitioners are trained to work within the limits of the clients’ pain tolerance. The overall effect of the work improves when these limits are respected and the client has a much more enjoyable and lasting experience. This will also lead to the client leaving the session feeling more relaxed, energetic and integrated.
